Goalie Skates are specially designed skates for ice hockey goaltenders. Compared to player skates, they feature a flatter and wider blade that provides stability for lateral movements across the crease. The boot is cut lower for increased mobility during butterfly and side-to-side movements, yet reinforced to withstand shots and impacts.
For summer or off-ice training, there are Goalie Inline Skates, which mimic the construction of goalie skates but are equipped with wheels. They allow goaltenders to practice movements and reactions even off the ice.
